Ageless Acupuncture welcomes Chelsea Ochs!

The year of 2013 started with Chelsea Ochs joining Ageless Acupuncture clinic! I can not be more excited to be working side by side with a SIOM graduate that not only holds one of the best educations in the country when it comes to Chinese Medicine, but also is a provider that shares my passion and philosophy.

Here is a short blog post that Chelsea wrote to introduce herself and give a short description of what her treatment style is like:

My name is Chelsea Ochs and I am so happy to have joined Ageless Acupuncture! Pike Place Market is a fascinating place, bustling with life, exchange, movement, and craft. Before becoming an acupuncturist, I was a professional artist. Many of the same principles and skills that are part of art making are also present in being a health care provider. One needs to listen and see, take a moment to question and integrate, and then act. The Market is the perfect place in which to participate in this process. It has currents of both movement and stillness that inspire new ways in which health can be created.

It is this balance between movement and stillness that originally drew me to Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Working in the lively market environment has enhanced my understanding of what it means to achieve well-being. Among many things, one needs good food, strong community, and a place to rest. There are plenty of wonderful places in Pike Place Market to find the first two; it is my hope that Ageless Acupuncture will be the place where you find rest.

My practice specializes in treating mental health, pain conditions, sexual health and gynecologic complaints. I am grateful to be in a field where I work with the person as a whole, listening to and advocating for my patients in order to help them achieve their goals. Please allow me to answer any questions you may have about Chinese Medicine and the ways in which it can support your health. Our door is always open!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Today is the Lunar New Year and it is the year of water snake! In Chinese Medicine's five element theory, the elements carry different characteristics and color. Water's color is black, and it represents Yin energy: deep, calm, rooted and most fundamental of the elements. This year the water snake portrays yang within yin: snake being yin in its shape and yang in its internal nature. Snake is a very sophisticated, patient and intelligent animal, it possesses both calm, methodical, fluid like characteristics along with fierce and aggressive fiery behaviour.

My personal interpretation of this year's intention, is to embody some of snakes most desired characteristics. May you find internal balance between the yin and yang forces that lie within you. Bringing balance and root to your daily life, learning and perfecting the skill of moving with the flow, and cultivating internal calm in order to leap with determination.

May the 2013 be a prosperious year for you, may you have joy, peace and most of all health!
